Do you want help to come up with the perfect curriculum and way to study chess? Then Noël Studer’s second course The Simplified Chess Improvement System is the way to go. Suitable for all ratings. (You can read my review on his beginner course here.)

Pros

Helps you plan an efficient training

Switches your mindset

Helps you stick to your training plan

Has an active community

Cons

Not really a chess course

Quite expensive

When I decided to start Studers course, I was already familiar with his teaching philosophy and style. I still read his newsletter every week and listen (and relisten) to his podcast when I’m folding clothes. One day, he mentioned his course in which he shows how to create an efficient training plan that will let you steadily improve.

Let me emphasize right from the start: Studer doesn’t promise that your rating will skyrocket as soon as you follow his plan. He will teach you how to gradually improve by showing up every day and doing what actually matters. In a nutshell: don’t switch methods every month, week or day; don’t binge YouTube-video’s; and no mindless puzzle rushes.

Step by step Studer shows his students what matters and even recommends high-quality resource per rating. And if you get stuck – which is very normal in a training process – just ask questions in the active community. Not only your fellow students, but Noël Studer himself, will help and advise you wherever they can.

That makes this course worth every cent of the $397 dollars.

Whether you are a beginner or a pro, The Simplified Chess Improvement System is the go to course for a structured training plan. It will finally help you get rid of all possible distractions.
